About Weingut Pöckl and Mönchhof:
The Pöckl winery, located in Mönchhof, Burgenland, continues a viticultural tradition that spans over 800 years. Mönchhof, first documented in 1217, ranks among Austria’s most historic wine-producing villages. The name literally means “Monk’s Court,” referring to its origins as a Cistercian monastery. The Cistercian monks, who were instrumental in developing viticulture throughout Europe, established sophisticated vineyard practices here that have influenced winemaking in the region to this day.
