The Great Bustard 2021
From Big to Great: The cuvée of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Zweigelt, aged for 12 months in new oak barrels, was created by Erich Scheiblhofer on the occasion of his father Johann “Big John’s” 70th birthday. It goes without saying that only the best grape material was used for this.
Elaborately painted on the bottle is the very rare Great Bustard, the largest flying bird in Europe, which is native to Burgenland and depicted as a secret heraldic animal in the logo on numerous bottles of Scheiblhofer wines.
The exclusive red wine exudes a seductive scent of black cherries and ripe blackcurrants, underlined by oak notes. It presents itself on the palate with an incredibly dense, full body and present, smooth tannins and leads to a long, intensive finish. A wine that can be enjoyed excellently now, especially with dark meat, but will also last for years to decades in the cellar.
