Tement Sauvignon Blanc Ried Sulz Brunnenhaus Steinfass 2020
The steeply exposed basin location of Sulz is Tement’s warmest vineyard site and one of the warmest in Southern Styria. Its wine is known for its intense, opulent fruit, but the Tement winery, like no other, understands how to bring elegance and focus to its wines. In the case of the top parcel Brunnenhaus, this is achieved, among other things, by aging the Sauvignon Blanc in stone barrels.
The wine needs a lot of oxygen to develop – a sign of its great potential. If you enjoy it young, you should decant it and enjoy it in a large glass. This way, you can coax out a smoky scent with meadow flower and herbal notes, as well as gooseberry, lemongrass, green bell pepper, and accents of exotic fruits on the palate. Tight and salty, it unfolds its radiant acidity, which harmoniously lingers with long and fine lime and lemon notes and carries exciting minerality.
The old vines of the Brunnenhaus parcel are rooted in powerful and clayey marl soils. After 12 hours of maceration, they were gently and slowly pressed, and the Sauvignon Blanc was left to natural spontaneous fermentation. Maturation took place in granite barrels before the wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
A la Carte: “Light color, nuanced bouquet, antipasti notes, bell pepper, pomelo, full-bodied, tight texture, spicy finish, good length, spicy-fruity aftertaste.”
