Stellenrust – Blueberry Hill Shiraz 2020 South Africa

This exceptional Shiraz originates from old vines, planted 37 years ago, that dig their roots deep into iron-rich clay soils, yielding concentrated flavors and intense aromas. The vines produce unusually small berries, packed with color and flavor, and exuding a captivating perfume reminiscent of ripe blueberries. Inspired by the unique character of these grapes, brothers Tertius and Kobie Stellerust crafted this wine with meticulous attention to detail.

Employing partial whole-bunch fermentation, they preserved the vibrant fruit character and added layers of complexity. Aging in neutral 500-liter oak barrels allowed the wine to develop gracefully, integrating its powerful fruit with subtle oak nuances. The result is a wonderfully dense and fruit-forward Shiraz, bursting with ripe berry flavors, complemented by elegant peppery spice and framed by a soft, velvety tannin structure. A refreshing acidity lifts the wine, contributing to its overall balance and drinkability. This is a truly hedonistic Shiraz that promises immense pleasure.
