Translating to “beautiful oak” in Italian, Querciabella is recognized as one of Chianti’s premier producers, a testament to the dedication and foresight of owner Sebastiano Cossia Castiglioni. Castiglioni was among the pioneers to transition his estate to organic farming in 1988 and further obtained biodynamic certification in 2000. Currently, the estate encompasses approximately 74 hectares of prime vineyards within several of Chianti’s finest crus, alongside an additional 32 hectares in the coastal Maremma region.

This captivating Chianti Classico embodies Querciabella’s distinctive style of elegance, freshness, and intensity. The wine has been central to the estate’s winemaking endeavors since Querciabella’s establishment in 1974, consistently garnering scores in the 90s from prominent wine critics. Fruit is sourced from exceptional sites within three of Chianti’s top sub-zones: Greve, Radda, and Gaiole in Chianti. Greve contributes vibrancy and fresh fruit character, Radda provides firm tannins and dark fruit nuances, while Gaiole adds riper fruit and invigorating acidity.

Upon arrival at the winery, the fruit undergoes vinification with minimal intervention, allowing the inherent beauty of the terroir to express itself. Fourteen months of maturation in fine-grained oak barrels facilitates complete tannin integration and refines the final blend. The outcome is an approachable yet intricate Chianti, brimming with ripe cherries, juniper berries, and licorice notes. An ideal wine to accompany tomato-based dishes such as tomato soups or handmade pasta served with a beef or wild boar ragu.
