Henri Champliau Cremant de Bourgogne Rose Brut
This sparkling wine is best enjoyed now or within the next 5 years. No need for decanting, simply chill and serve.
Henri Champliau is a family-run winery nestled in the Côte Chalonnaise region of Burgundy. Established in 2016 by Alexandre Graffard, the winery is named after his grandfather. Henri Champliau specializes in producing exceptional Crémant de Bourgogne, primarily from Pinot Noir grapes, with a focus on limited yields and hand-harvested fruit. Operating as a “negociant,” the winery works directly with growers, ensuring meticulous selection of high-quality grapes for their wines.
Crémant de Bourgogne Rosé Brut is a blend of Pinot Noir, with additions of Chardonnay and Gamay. The grapes are gently pressed and vinified separately. Following blending, the wine undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle according to the traditional “méthode champenoise,” and then rests on its lees for 12 months. This process enhances the development of a more complex aromatic profile.
This Crémant presents a beautiful salmon-pink color with fine bubbles. On the nose, it offers aromas of small red fruits, red apple and grapefruit, white flowers, and subtle hints of brioche. On the palate, it is lively and elegant. Chardonnay contributes freshness, while Gamay adds texture. The finish is crisp and refreshing, accompanied by a creamy mousse. This wine pairs wonderfully with baked salmon, salmon trout, or fresh cheeses.
