Henri Champliau Cremant de Bourgogne Authentique Brut
Enjoy it now, or cellar for up to 5 years. There’s no need to decant. Serve chilled.
Located in Mercurey, in the heart of Burgundy’s Côte Chalonnaise, the Henri Champliau winery was founded in 2016 by Alexandre Graffard, who named it in honor of his grandfather. The winery produces sparkling wines in the traditional Burgundy style, using the “méthode traditionnelle” with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes.
Brut Authentique is a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with the former being the dominant grape, contributing power and complexity to the wine. The addition of Chardonnay brings freshness and a lean character. The grapes are meticulously selected and hand-harvested from vineyard plots exclusively dedicated to Crémant production. After vinification, the wine undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle, following the “méthode champenoise” (the same method used for Champagne), for approximately 12 months.
This elegant Crémant de Bourgogne displays a clear and brilliant straw color, enlivened by a fine and persistent perlage. Its aromatic profile showcases the characteristic red fruit notes of Pinot Noir, followed by notes of quince and green apple. On the palate, it is fresh, fruity, and long, with a delicate mousse. This wine is ideal for a casual aperitif or to accompany seafood dishes and white meats.
