Domaine Jean Fournier Marsannay Saint Urbain Blanc 2022
This wine is ready to enjoy right now, but you can also cellar it for up to 10 years to let those flavors evolve. And no need for decanting—just open and pour!
Saint Urbain Blanc is a unique and intriguing blend of grapes and terroirs, bursting with aromas of citrus peel, acacia flowers, orchard fruits, and toasted hazelnuts. It’s a captivating mix of 80% Chardonnay, 8% Pinot Blanc, and 4% Pinot Beurot, with a touch of the rare Chardonnay Rose clone adding a subtle, savory bitterness.
This wine is a harmonious blend of fruit from three distinct Marsannay vineyards: Es Chezots, Champ Forey, and Plante-Pitois. Crafted by Laurent Fournier, the current steward of the estate, it embodies the essence of this renowned region. While the modern winery was established in 1962, the Fournier family’s winemaking heritage in Marsannay goes all the way back to the 17th century!
Saint Urbain Blanc is a refined and complex wine that dances on the palate with notes of ripe pear, honeyed honeysuckle, and zesty lemon. It has a pleasantly textured mouthfeel thanks to its subtle tannins, and a vibrant acidity keeps things lively. The finish is long and mineral-driven, with hints of gravel and sea salt. This wine enjoyed a year of aging in oak barrels, followed by 4 to 6 months in stainless steel. It’s a fantastic match for creamy chicken dishes, soft pungent cheeses, or grilled fish.
