Founded in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the iconic Costa Lazaridi winery is located in Drama, a Greek wine region in Eastern Macedonia.

Domaine Costa Lazaridi’s Malagouzia is a wine with great character and vibrant fruitiness. The Malagouzia grapes, an aromatic white variety primarily cultivated in central Greece, are sourced from the Katafyto vineyard. This vineyard, one of the northernmost in the country, is located 900 meters above sea level and is known for its low yields and unique microclimate. A portion of the grapes are fermented and aged in French oak barrels, adding complexity, volume, and structure to the wine.

This Malagouzia displays a pale lemon color with greenish hues and showcases the variety’s characteristic aromas: lemon, peach, grapefruit, lime, unripe pineapple, white flowers, and aromatic herbs. On the palate, it has a medium body and a lively citrus acidity. It’s juicy and flavorful, with a good concentration of stone fruit and notes of lemon flowers. The finish is long and refreshing. This wine makes an excellent aperitif and pairs beautifully with green salads, herb soups, vegetarian tarts, and delicate creamy cheeses such as Manouri or Brie.
