Costa Lazaridi Chateau Julia Assyrtiko 2023
Enjoy this dry white wine now, or cellar it for a few more years to develop further complexity. No need to decant it before serving.
This wine is crafted from the native Greek Assyrtiko grape and displays a beautiful pale blonde color with fresh green highlights in the glass. On the nose, it delivers intense citrus aromas alongside the iconic salty minerality typical of Assyrtiko. Delicate floral notes, such as chamomile and lemon tree blossom, add depth to the aromatic profile.
Domaine Costa Lazaridi, founded in 1979 by Costa Lazaridi, was the first winery to plant vineyards in Drama, Greece. They’re known for their innovative winemaking practices, including their use of indigenous Greek grapes.
Chateau Julia Assyrtiko offers a full, textured mouthfeel with high acidity and a long, salty aftertaste. It showcases an excellent structure, balancing richness and liveliness. On the palate, you’ll discover flavors of lemon, grapefruit, pear, and apple, enhanced by hints of flint and honey. The grapes were matured in stainless steel tanks to preserve the characteristic freshness of both the grape and the terroir. Perfect for a warm summer’s day, this wine pairs well with goat’s cheese salad, seafood, or poultry in a white sauce.
