Chateau Purcari Sauvignon Blanc de Purcari 2023
This wine can be cellared for up to 3 years. To fully appreciate its vibrant character, serve it well-chilled.
French settlers, upon arriving in southeastern Moldova, quickly recognized the similarities between the local terroir and that of their native Bordeaux. In collaboration with local monks, they introduced French grape varietals like Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc to the region. Throughout its long and esteemed history, Chateau Purcari has upheld this tradition and is now gaining increasing recognition for crafting delicious, high-quality wines at exceptional value.
The estate’s classic Sauvignon Blanc is made from hand-picked grapes, vinified in the winery using traditional local methods. To preserve its freshness and elegance, the wine is aged in stainless steel tanks rather than oak barrels. This results in a lively and refreshing wine bursting with aromas of lemon, pineapple, mango, and delicate white blossoms. Light and crisp on the palate with invigorating acidity, it is an excellent choice as an aperitif or paired with seafood, grilled fish, or vegetarian dishes.
Founded in 1827 by an imperial decree from Tsar Nicholas I, Chateau Purcari is Moldova’s oldest winery and has a strong reputation for producing quality wines. The estate enjoyed a golden age in the 19th century, with its wines receiving widespread acclaim throughout Europe. This legacy is being revived today, with Chateau Purcari earning numerous medals at the Decanter World Wine Awards in 2019 and 2020.
