Chateau Purcari Pinot Grigio de Purcari 2023 Moldova
This wine can be cellared for up to 4 years. Serve well-chilled to fully appreciate its vibrant character.
Chateau Purcari is the oldest winery in Moldova, a country with a long and rich viticultural heritage that dates back thousands of years. In 1827, Tsar Nicholas I issued a special decree establishing the first official winery in the region then known as Bessarabia. Today, the estate is experiencing a resurgence, thanks to the exceptional terroir of its vineyards, which are located near the Black Sea and planted in rubidium-rich soils similar to those found in Bordeaux, France.
This crisp and refreshing Pinot Grigio is crafted from hand-harvested grapes that are vinified using traditional local winemaking techniques. To preserve the natural aromas and freshness of the Pinot Grigio grape, the wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks and bottled while still young and vibrant.
The result is a bright and lively white wine bursting with notes of lemon zest, orchard fruits, and hints of dried herbs and floral fragrance. On the palate, it offers a refreshingly crisp acidity, a light body, and a clean, pure finish. This makes it an excellent pairing for seafood, grilled fish and chicken, sushi, and leafy salads. It is also a delightful choice as an aperitif on a warm summer day, enjoyed in the garden or by the pool, perhaps alongside a platter of cheeses or charcuterie.
