Chateau Purcari Limited Edition Pinot Noir 2020
This wine can be cellared for up to 10 years and enjoyed immediately without decanting.
Chateau Purcari is a highly respected Moldovan winery with a long history of winemaking excellence, evidenced by the numerous awards it has received at international competitions. Located in southeastern Moldova, near the Ukrainian border, the winery is synonymous with the Purcari region itself. Established in 1827 as the first specialized winery in Bessarabia (present-day Moldova), Purcari’s roots actually extend even further back in time.
In the 18th century, French settlers noticed the striking similarity between the soils of Purcari and those of Bordeaux. This led to the planting of Bordeaux varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec, which remain dominant at Purcari today, along with the Burgundian Pinot Noir.
This particular wine, crafted entirely from Pinot Noir, displays a captivating purple-red hue. Its aroma is a delicate yet complex bouquet of strawberry, raspberry, and violet. Like all Purcari wines, it is aged in French oak barrels. On the palate, it is velvety and bold, offering pronounced notes of cherry and blackcurrant, balanced by a firm acidity and moderate tannins. The finish is long-lasting with a subtle hint of oak. This wine pairs exceptionally well with venison, tender asparagus, and sweet/salty cheeses like Gruyère.
