Chateau Purcari is Moldova’s oldest winery, boasting a rich history that began with a special decree issued by Tsar Nicholas I in 1827. While Moldova was primarily known for mass-produced, everyday wines during the Soviet era, Chateau Purcari has now established a reputation for excellence and exceptional value.

Located in southeastern Moldova, Purcari enjoys ideal conditions for producing premium wines. Interestingly, the terroir here shares similarities with that of Bordeaux, France. Both regions are situated at the same latitude and have rubidium-rich soils, which contribute to the distinctive character of the wines. The proximity of the Black Sea provides a cooling influence during the summer months, helping to preserve the grapes’ aromatic intensity and freshness.

This remarkable sparkling wine is crafted from a blend of classic Champagne grapes: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with the addition of Pinot Blanc.
