While Chateau Purcari may not yet be a household name outside of Moldova, it is making waves as one of Eastern Europe’s most exciting wineries. The winery’s heritage dates back to the 19th century when French settlers collaborated with local monks to introduce Bordeaux grape varietals to the region, cultivating them alongside indigenous Moldovan grapes. Over the years, the quality of Purcari’s wines has been recognized at prestigious competitions such as the Paris World Exhibition and, more recently, the Decanter World Wine Awards, where this particular wine earned a silver medal.

Alb de Purcari is a captivating white wine crafted from a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio, with a touch of Pinot Blanc. The grapes are sourced from estate vineyards located near the Black Sea, which provides a cooling influence that helps to preserve the aromatic intensity and freshness of the grapes. The fruit is carefully hand-harvested and vinified using time-honored winemaking techniques before being aged for 6 months in French oak barrels.

This wine enchants with aromas of green apple, honeysuckle, and stone fruit. On the palate, it delivers a refreshing acidity, a medium body, and a well-rounded texture, complemented by subtle notes of cream and toasted oak imparted by the barrel aging.
