Chateau de Meursault holds a position as one of Burgundy’s most esteemed estates, boasting a history that stretches back to the 11th century. Throughout the centuries, it has been passed down through a lineage of noblemen and is currently under the ownership of Olivier Halley, the descendant of a renowned French wine family.

While the chateau is situated in the Meursault appellation, its extensive roots reach out to vineyards across the Côte de Beaune region. This particular wine originates from the Clos des Chênes vineyard in Volnay, an appellation celebrated for its delicate and remarkably elegant Pinot Noirs. This Premier Cru certainly lives up to that reputation.

The nose is refined and intricate, presenting notes of blackberry, sweet spice, blackcurrant, and subtle hints of smoke and chocolate. On the palate, it is concentrated and fleshy. The wine’s refreshing acidity reflects the Clos des Chênes’ location, perched on a hilltop at 270 meters above sea level.

You’ll encounter notes of red cherry, tart blueberry, and underlying spicy hints of nutmeg, cardamom, and dried herbs. The tannins are delicate and seamlessly integrated. This Pinot Noir has ample potential for development and was crafted with bottle aging in mind. It will be an exceptional companion for soft cheeses or gamey meats served alongside mushrooms.
