Chateau de Meursault Ladoix Les Chaillots 2020
Enjoy it now, or cellar for up to 15 years. There’s no need for decanting, but it’s best to open the bottle half an hour before serving.
Chateau de Meursault is a historic estate with a long-standing winemaking tradition, located in the prestigious Meursault wine region in the heart of the Côte de Beaune. The vineyards, spanning approximately 65 hectares, are spread across the appellations of Meursault, Pommard, Puligny-Montrachet, Beaune, and Corton, and include several Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards, as well as a dozen village or regional appellations. The estate encompasses the historic chateau, various outbuildings, and a 10-hectare park. Beneath the chateau and outbuildings lie approximately 3,500 m² of Cistercian-style cellars, housing over 800 barrels.
The Pinot Noir grapes for this wine are hand-harvested from a vineyard situated at the foot of a hill, benefiting from an east/southeast exposure and clay-limestone soils. After a period of maceration and fermentation at low temperatures, the wine rests on its lees for 15 months.
Ladoix Les Chaillots is an elegant wine with a bright color and luminous ruby tones. On the nose, it exhibits refreshing aromas with notes of blackcurrant and strawberry, complemented by hints of vanilla. On the palate, it is soft and supple, with velvety tannins and a long, fruity persistence on the finish. It has a medium body and well-balanced acidity. The finish is long and warm. This wine pairs beautifully with game birds or duck served with a red fruit sauce.
