Chateau de Marsannay Bourgogne Cote d’Or 2022
Suitable for cellaring up to 15 years. Decanting is not required, but can be done for up to 30 minutes before serving.
Chateau de Marsannay is nestled in the heart of the Côte de Nuits region, one of Burgundy’s most exceptional stretches of viticultural land. Head winemaker Sylvain Pabion works his magic at the chateau, transforming 34 scenic hectares of vineyards into an array of classic Burgundy wines.
In 2012, the Halley family acquired the estate, along with Chateau de Meursault in the neighboring Côte de Beaune region. Olivier Halley and manager Stephane Follin-Arbelet have overseen the domain’s transition to fully organic farming practices, the results of which are now becoming evident. The grapes for this Pinot Noir were sourced from premium sites across the Cote d’Or, resulting in a concentrated yet approachable wine.
It displays a pale ruby hue in the glass, releasing aromas of bright red hedgerow berries, sweet spice, and a subtle, classic earthiness. This Cote d’Or strikes a remarkable balance between vibrant, crisp fruit and smooth drinkability. On the palate, it exhibits the classic Pinot Noir high acidity, which carries flavors of wild raspberry, blackberry, and tart red cherry. The fruit-forward profile is underpinned by a deep well of earthy notes. This wine will be an excellent accompaniment to soft, spicy cheese, mushroom risotto, or a rich salmon steak.
