Batar is esteemed as one of Italy’s premier white wines, with renowned wine critic Jancis Robinson even likening it to “a particularly successful Corton-Charlemagne.” However, despite the comparison to the most prestigious white Burgundies, Batar remains quintessentially Tuscan at its core, showcasing a unique minerality and elegance, courtesy of Querciabella’s high-altitude Ruffoli vineyards.

The cuvee is crafted from Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco grapes, cultivated organically and biodynamically, and meticulously hand-selected to guarantee only flawless grapes are utilized for Batar. Upon arrival at the winery, the fruit is pressed and fermented in French oak barrels, followed by nine months of aging prior to bottling. In a typical year, a mere 15,000 bottles of this iconic wine are produced, the majority of which are swiftly acquired by collectors and wine enthusiasts worldwide.

Acacia flowers, chamomile, smoked almonds, and subtle ripe peach notes prevail on the nose, while the palate presents a luxuriously smooth texture, a well-rounded mouthfeel, and a refreshing balance on the lingering finish. Batar’s complexity and intensity allow for effortless cellaring for at least another decade after the vintage, or immediate enjoyment alongside truffle-based pasta dishes, herby roast chicken, or roasted root vegetables.
